Georgina Rodríguez’s Bridal Style Clues: Veils, Sapphires and More

Georgina Rodríguez’s and Cristiano Ronaldo’s wedding could be approaching. The Mimoa founder and Portuguese professional soccer player got engaged in August 2025 after nearly one decade together, and now, one year later, rumors are swirling the couple could tie the knot this weekend, even though they have not publicly confirmed a date. As speculation swirls, WWD looks back at how Rodríguez’s red carpet style may offer clues to her wedding day look.

    Bridal Silhouettes

For the last several years, Rodríguez’s red carpet style has been synonymous with one silhouette — a formfitting hourglass shape. From the recent Cannes Film Festival in May 2026 all the way back to the Sanremo Music Festival in February 2020, the model’s proclivity for the style has been a defining quality of her formal attire.

Strapless dresses with sweetheart necklines and cinched waists have added feminine touches to the classic style she’s worn over the years. Even the color palette Rodríguez has chosen for certain events has come across as a bit bridal. At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Rodríguez wore a Georges Hobeika fall 2011 couture dress. Sculpted, strapless and featuring a mermaid-style skirt, the dress’ silhouette was further defined by corsetry and a delicate lacy skirt.

Just two years earlier, Rodríguez went full bridal mode with her 2024 Venice Film Festival attire. With a similar silhouette to her Georges Hobeika gown, Rodríguez’s white Oscar de la Renta dress merged the formfitting silhouette she often wears with a sensual detail in the form of a thigh-high slit cut into the flowing skirt.

The Oscar de la Renta gown was a slight variation on the Lia Stublla gown Rodríguez wore to the Sanremo Music Festival in February 2020. Also evoking a modern bridal air, the white dress included the staple design elements Rodríguez has embraced over the years: the sweetheart neckline, formfitting silhouette and thigh-high slit.

Though bridal inspiration has been plentiful in Rodríguez’s past red carpet looks, there’s still a question of which designer the model will gravitate toward for the big day. Oscar de la Renta, Georges Hobeika and Lia Stublla could certainly be among the contenders. But if the designer is still up for speculation, the general silhouette and romantic aura of the dress may be easier to predict.

    Veiled Drama

If there’s an element of bridal attire that defines the aesthetic, it’s a veil. Rodríguez showcased a dramatic take on the style when she attended the 2026 Met Gala last May.

Rodríguez wore a Ludovic de Saint Sernin design for the “Costume Art” event. As with her previous dress styles, Rodríguez favored a corseted bodice with a formfitting skirt and mermaid-style silhouette. This time, she opted for a halter neckline instead of her customary strapless style.

The centerpiece of Rodríguez’s delicate look, however, was the sheer veil worn in a mantilla style. Sheer fabric framed Rodríguez’s face, while floral appliqués added delicate, feminine touches.

A mantilla-style veil could add a dose of drama to Rodríguez’s wedding day look. The style has certainly made a comeback, and if Rodríguez’s wedding day aesthetic leans into old-world romance, the same style of veil from her 2026 Met Gala appearance could fit seamlessly into her look.

    Something Blue Jewelry

As for the quintessential “something blue” in Rodríguez’s wedding day look, the model has already teased potential ideas with vibrant sapphires. At the 2026 Kering Women in Motion Awards in May, during the Cannes Film Festival, Rodríguez wore more than 300 carats of Chopard high jewelry.

The statement necklace featured diamonds and brilliant blue sapphires, making for a bold “something blue” style statement. While the “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” adage for wedding day attire isn’t a necessity, the dazzling blue Chopard jewels could offer a fresh spin on the sentimental styling element.
