Shipt Inks First Footwear Retail Partnership With DSW

Shipt is providing same-day delivery for DSW customers, its first with a footwear retailer.

The service is available starting Tuesday through the Shipt app and on Shipt.com. It will roll out to about 452 DSW stores nationwide, a move that will provide nearly 75 million households with access to same-day delivery. All customers will have access to DSW’s wide assortment of brand-name and designer dress, casual and athletic footwear and accessories. Shipt has a special offer through Sept. 15 where DSW customers can save $15 on their orders that are over $75 if they use the code DSW15.

The partnership launch comes in time for the back to school (bts) shopping season.

“We always want to lead with what do people want, and you know, footwear has definitely been something that we’ve heard loud and clear,” Katie Stratton, Shipt’s chief growth and strategy officer, said, noting that those last minute moments of needing something can be particularly crucial for bts when parents suddenly realize that their child’s shoes no longer fit.

Shipt worked with Morning Consult on a survey about bts and footwear. One takeaway from the survey is that footwear is a unique pressure point for families because parents often discover sizing issues unexpectedly due to growth spurts and evolving needs. Eighty-four percent of respondents said that same-day shoe delivery would be either extremely or very valuable. Parents also said that having the right shoes would help their child feel confident.

But it isn’t just bts where Shipt can help with footwear needs. Stratton spoke about her own experience with shoe needs for camp.

“I’m a mom of three. My kids are all in camp. My oldest son was doing sailing camp. The night before, I’m realizing he needed a specific type of sneaker that he’s allowed to wear on a sailboat. I don’t sail, so it didn’t even cross my mind that he would need a different type of sneaker,” she said. And while Stratton said she had a moment of panic, it was the ability to order via Shipt and have same-day delivery that saved the day.

DSW is Shipt’s first “full footwear retail partner,” Stratton said. As for why they chose to partner with DSW, she said it was the “breadth” of the assortment mix at DSW that stood out.

“We were really excited about DSW because they just do this right. They do this well,” she said. “They have every category of shoe [and] the full breadth of assortment that we know when you’re in that moment where you need it now, you’re going to be able to go to DSW. You may not be able to get there, so we’ll bring it to you.”

Shipt is wholly owned subsidiary of Target Corp., which acquired it in December 2017 for $550 million. The service works with over 300,000 shopper drivers who work as independent contractors that pick up same day delivery orders and are shopping for Shipt customers.

“Because we have curated our marketplace very intentionally to be quality over quantity of the retail partner, [these shopper drivers] really get to know these stores,” Stratton said, adding that they know both the floor plans and the store associates well enough to even ask them to check the back room as they fill an order.

Shipt members typically work with about five personal shoppers, on average, which means they get to know a member’s shopping habits.

“My shoppers, because I’m obviously an avid Shipt user, they know me. They know my kids. They know my kids’ preferences,” Stratton said, noting that the one-to-one relationship — she calls them her shopping accomplice — is very important when shopping for shoes. “You don’t want someone who’s just going to walk in there and just grab a box and not check it for you [to] make sure it’s the right shoe in the box.”

Shipt offers an annual member at $99 for the year, which includes unlimited same-day deliveries on orders, and those that are over $35 get free delivery. A monthly membership is $10.99 a month, with the same benefits. Non-members can use Shipt on a pay-per-use basis that has a $9.99 charge per order.

DSW and Shipt aren’t the only ones looking at how to make the shopping experience more convenient for customers.

Earlier this month, Foot Locker partnered with the Uber Eats platform for bts for its Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, and Champs Sports banners to offer on-demand or scheduled deliveries. Hibbett last fall joined the Uber Eats platform too, as did Dick’s Sporting Goods in June 2025 that included over 800 Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy locations. Other same-day services include Instacart — it partnered in 2023 with JD Sports and Finish LIne — and DoorDash, which had teamed up with Academy Sports + Outdoors in June 2024 and, at one point, DSW in September 2025.
