If you’ve been keeping your face plain, glowy and natural for the last few weeks, you’re not alone; ’tis the season of the “clean girl” aesthetic.
But all that bare-faced beauty may be coming to an end soon after Zendaya just not-so-subtly put the trend to bed on Friday, pairing imperfect micro bangs with color-washed, Cleopatra-inspired eyes at the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” premiere in Shanghai on Friday.

The Emmy-winning actress appeared with a sharp, smoky eye, made up of bronze shimmer, charcoal, black and navy hues, which melted over her lids and below her waterline. The formidable shadow pool, cut by black liquid liner, was juxtaposed with light brown brows and bubblegum blush on the apples of her cheeks. With the color contrast north of her nose, her lips held the fort in soft taupe and nude gloss.

The dark glam was imagined by makeup mastermind Nikki Wolff, also known as @Nikki_Makeup on Instagram. Her hair, on the other hand, was constructed by Ursula Stephen, the architect behind her Audrey Hepburn-esque micro bangs. For this look, Stephen sought to accent Zendaya’s white and black-webbed archival Versace gown with extra-long extensions, which she styled using Burbur Care products and the Tymo Beauty roundbrush.

The meter-long ends and mildly gothic makeup could be considered Zendaya’s boldest beauty look yet, though each new appearance threatens the last. That said, each look has been unique in composition and color. For example, her glam for “The Odyssey” premiere run was mainly goddess-inspired (think ethereal eyes and messy hair). Meanwhile, she kept a wet bixie cut for the first leg of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” press.

Earlier this week, the “Euphoria” star stepped out for a photo call in New York, donning tight-lined red eyeliner. The pop of color embellished her eyes, taking center stage next to her glazed complexion and chin-length bob. And just a few days later, she debuted choppy fringe with a bouffant bun that was halfway between Pamela Anderson’s trademark messy updo and Hepburn’s folded top wave in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
