When it comes to the world of celebrity children, it feels like no name is too unusual. Whether the famous parents are taking inspiration from nature, the calendar, or indie rock bands, they’re choosing names that make an impression and announce their creativity.
Earlier this year, Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara added a new entry to the canon when they announced the birth of their daughter, Mikey Moon Trainor. And now, model Elsa Hosk and her fiancé Tom Daly have announced the birth of their second daughter, Flora Blue. Hosk and Daly join a community of celebrities who have borrowed from the color wheel when choosing a baby name.
And then there are Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, who called their first son RZA in honor of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper; their second son Riot Rose; and their daughter Rocki Irish. Meanwhile, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker welcomed their own baby Rocky in 2023.
Some get much, much weirder with it. In Walter Isaacson’s biography of Elon Musk, Musk revealed that his third child with Grimes is named Techno Mechanicus, or “Tau” for short, joining a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl, whom they call “Y,” and their son X Æ A-Xii (formerly X Æ A-12), who goes by “X.”

Hosk wrote, “she’s finally here, born in the garden, under the moon, the stars and our magical flowering tree.” She joins Tuulikki Joan Daly, a daughter born in February 2021. “It wasn’t hard to choose her name because I always knew I wanted a Finnish name,” Hosk said on Instagram at the time. “I think Finnish names are so cute. And Tuulikki is my mom’s middle name.”
