THE WHAT? The UK’s Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has published new data from its Submit a Cosmetic Products Notification (SCPN) system, highlighting its ongoing oversight of cosmetic product safety and regulatory compliance in Great Britain.
THE DETAILS As of 28 May 2026, the SCPN system had received 861,686 cosmetic product notifications from 24,112 registered Responsible Persons since its launch in December 2020. The data was released following a parliamentary inquiry into the safety and regulation of beauty and cosmetic products, including hair relaxers. OPSS said it has taken enforcement action where products notified through the SCPN contained prohibited ingredients, requiring businesses to correct product information or remove non-compliant products from the market. The SCPN replaced the EU’s Cosmetic Products Notification Portal (CPNP) for products placed on the Great Britain market following Brexit.
