Skims, Emerging Brand Vettese Team Up for Limited-Edition RTW Capsule

Skims, the intimates apparel brand, and Vettese, the emerging luxury fashion house, have partnered on a limited-edition ready-to-wear collaboration. The collection blends Vettese’s sculptural approach to design with Skims’ second-skin fabrics.

Representing Skims’ first partnership with an emerging designer, the collection features seven elevated ready-to-wear essentials that balance structure and softness.

Featured in the capsule are convertibe tops, draped skirts and curve-enhancing dresses that merge Vettese’s craftsmanship with Skims’ signature fabrics.

The capsule is offered in Skims’ ecru, cocoa and onyx colorways, and each piece is crafted with versatility in mind, designed to transition from day to night.

“Kari [Vettese] has such a unique approach to design, and I’ve always admired the ways she creates pieces that feel sculptural while remaining effortless to wear,” said Kim Kardashian, cofounder and chief creative officer of Skims. “Bringing Vettese together with Skims felt like a natural fit. We loved the opportunity to combine our two perspectives and create something that feels fresh while staying true to both brands.”

Skims was cofounded in 2019 by Kardashian and Jens Grede and has carved out a strong niche in women’s underwear, loungewear and shapewear. Last November, the company completed a $225 million capital raise that valued it at $5 billion. Skims Beauty is on deck and is a highly anticipated cosmetics and fragrance line.

Vettese was founded in November 2022 by Kari Vettese, a first generation Italian American designer based in Los Angeles. Designed and produced entirely in-house, Vettese’s collections are committed to craftsmanship, innovation and independent ownership. She showed on the CFDA Fashion Calendar during New York Fashion Week for the first time in February 2025.

“Vettese was built on the belief that exceptional craftsmanship and independent creativity define the future of luxury, while Skims has become one of the most influential cultural brands of our generation,” Vettese said. “This collection brings those worlds together through Vettese’s orignal interconnected design philosophy, where each garment is conceived as part of a larger dialogue — designed to connect, transform and be styled in multiple ways.”

The collection launches Wednesday at 9 a.m. PST exclusively on skims.com and at Skims’ New York and Los Angeles flagships.

Prices range from $64 to $148, and the sizes go from XXS to 4XL.

The styles are based on Vettese Body and Tube pieces, which is part of the company’s core design language. Vettese’s signature collection features the idea of wrapping oneself in luxurious cloth, with many possible ways to wrap and wear. This idea was incorporated into the Skims capsule.

In discussing how the two companies got together, Vettese told WWD that Skims emailed two years ago about doing a collaboration. “We accepted and we were really excited,” she said. She said that Vettese has its showroom on Melrose Avenue and had been dressing some well-known people from the beginning, “so it was kind of a natural thing.”

Vettese said her brand focuses on ready-to-wear and runway. She called the collaborative collection “an elevated take on everyday wear, with our signature wrapping and tubing pieces that we’ve been doing since the beginning.”

She said she worked with the Skims team in the latter’s offices and it was a collaborative process over the last few years. “We’d do the fittings. We had all kinds of meetings, regarding updating things and then seeing the co-tags, so that’s cool.”

Asked how it differs from what Skims offers, Vettese said, “It gives the elevated high fashion approach to what they’re offering. It gives more convertibility. I like to include that in my designs a lot. You can wear literally everything the wrong way and so many different ways. We show that in the collection. There are so many different ways to wear it.”

The capsule is a limited-edition collection for one season only.

“I am excited because it’s been so long in the making. I’m excited for people to finally be able to wear and enjoy it,” Vettese said.

The capsule is using the Skims Modal fabric, which the brand uses for its basics line. “That’s what we used across the entire collection,” Vettese said. She said a few pieces have detachable buttons that will attach to the top so you can interchange them in and out and make a dress with them or wear them separately.

“I really did enjoy the process and I thank them for being so trusting with my vision; it was an incredible process,” she said.

Vettese said she plans to show in September during New York Fashion Week, although she’s not on the CFDA Fashion Calendar yet, but plans to be. She will be revealing the date soon.
