Dôen, the Los Angeles vintage-inspired lifestyle brand, will open its first Midwestern store this fall at Plaza del Lago, a Spanish-style open-air shopping center in Wilmette, Ill., just north of Chicago.
The opening joins a growing list of brands at Plaza del Lago including Thom Browne, Veronica Beard, Hill House Home and LoveShackFancy, alongside forthcoming boutiques such as Zimmermann, Oscar de la Renta and Hermès.
Dôen is known for its feminine silhouettes and timeless designs. The brand was founded in 2016 by Santa Barbara-born sisters Margaret and Katherine Cleveland and has cultivated a devoted following for its feminine collections that blend vintage inspiration with modern sensibility and are designed to be passed on for generations.
The new boutique at Plaza del Lago marks Dôen’s ninth location and is designed in partnership with Nickey Kehoe, a Los Angeles-based interior design firm. Designed to be warm and inviting, the boutique will showcase Dôen’s signature collections, such as ready-to-wear, knitwear, denim, footwear and accessories.

“We’ve always believed that community is at the heart of everything we do, so opening our first Midwest store feels especially meaningful,” said Margaret Cleveland, chief executive officer of Dôen. “Plaza del Lago has such a wonderful sense of neighborhood and community making it the perfect home for our next location. Each of our stores is thoughtfully designed with the team at Nickey Kehoe to feel like a jewel box space — an extension of the world of Dôen that also embraces the character and spirit of the place it calls home. We are excited to welcome both longtime customers and those discovering the brand for the first time to our Wilmette community.”

The store will be located in The Arcade, Plaza del Lago’s newly restored enclave of small-format shops on the north end of the property. Originally built in the 1920s, Plaza del Lago is the second-oldest shopping destination in the country.
“Dôen has build an incredible following through its distinct point of view, exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to creating beautiful, enduring pieces,” said Arielle Weston, director of asset strategy and experience at WS Development, a mixed-use developer that owns, operates and leases more than 100 properties. “As we continue to thoughtfully curate a collection of best-in-class retailers, the brand’s decision to make its Midwest debut at Plaza del Lago is a meaningful endorsement of our vision creating a destination that carries globally recognized brands while also evoking a sense of community and place.”
Dôen’s other stores are in Brentwood Country Mart, Montecito Country Mart, Lido Marina Village and Marin Country Mart in California, as well as Sag Harbor, N.Y., Nantucket, Mass., and two in New York City on Bleecker Street and Madison Avenue.
