Breaking Down the Tech and Personalized Details

After dropping crumbs of increasing size over the past week, Caitlin Clark and Nike are now doing the full-scale reveal for her first signature sneaker.

The Nike Caitlin 1 utilizes new Opticast technology to give its upper a finely casted texture. Little polyurethane nodes are cast in the shape of Cs on the medial side and no. 2s on the lateral. As they rise and dip on the Z-axis they form larger wave patterns intended to both represent the 3-point line, behind which Clark thrives, and reduce drag for better movement efficiency.

For the midsole, Cushlon foam is paired with a forefoot Air Zoom Turbo unit articulated so that it sits close to the foot from edge to edge. Stacked Swooshes in a bevel frame serve as an Easter egg for Clark’s initials, and the outsole carries three additional three-point references: “Shoot More Threes,” “From Anywhere” and “It was never a long shot.”

“Having my own shoe has been a dream for as long as I can remember, and seeing it come to life is pretty incredible,” Clark said in a press release. “I wanted it to reflect how I play—fast, confident, and ready to let it fly. Nike and I really crushed it. It was a true partnership. They listened to every detail, and the innovation is designed for my game. Seeing the finished product for the first time will forever be a core memory.”

In a post-game press conference last week, Clark teased that her long-awaited signature shoe would come “very, very, very, very soon.” She then overhauled her Instagram Monday by changing her username to @caitlin1 and making her profile picture a close-up of the PU node Cs. And this morning, she dropped a photo dump with images of her wearing the Caitlin 1 in blue and Travis Scott rocking a black pair.

Another image of an insole showed Clark’s logo above a bead pile graphic, but the framing of the official images doesn’t confirm if it’ll be used on the blue variant or another.

Releasing simultaneously with the sneakers will be an 18-piece apparel collection including the first Standard Issue women’s products and items using the new Aerofit technology that debuted on Nike’s World Cup kits.

“What excites me most is what this can mean for the next generation,” Clark added. “If it inspires even one kid to work harder or fall in love with the game, that’s what makes it special. This is so much more than a shoe—it’s about helping grow the game.”

Contrary to prior reports, the Nike Caitlin 1 will release Oct. 1 through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $140.
