THE WHAT? Henkel has opened a new €45 million high-bay warehouse expansion at its Düsseldorf headquarters, creating its largest consumer goods warehouse in Europe and enhancing its regional logistics network.
THE DETAILS Following a two-year planning and construction process, the new facility has been integrated with Henkel’s existing fully automated warehouse, creating a logistics centre with more than 200,000 pallet spaces across a 24,000-square-metre site. The warehouse will serve as a central hub for laundry, cleaning and hair care products and consolidate five existing warehouse locations across Germany and the Benelux region. The investment forms part of Henkel’s broader commitment to its Düsseldorf site, where it invests around €100 million annually. The new logistics centre also features a direct rail connection, enabling CO₂-efficient transportation of products from Henkel’s Wassertrüdingen manufacturing site in Bavaria, which supplies hair care products across Germany and much of Europe.
THE WHY? The expansion supports Henkel Consumer Brands’ integration strategy by streamlining warehousing operations, simplifying supply chains and reducing transport distances. By centralising logistics activities, Henkel aims to improve efficiency, enhance customer service and strengthen sustainability efforts through lower emissions and more consolidated deliveries.
