THE WHAT? Scott-Vincent Borba, co-founder of e.l.f. Cosmetics, is leaving behind his beauty industry career and luxury lifestyle to become a Catholic priest.
THE DETAILS Borba, 52, is set to be ordained by the Diocese of Fresno in California on May 23 following a major personal and spiritual transformation. The entrepreneur co-founded affordable beauty brand e.l.f. Cosmetics in 2004 and later built a multimillion-dollar fortune through his beauty ventures. However, after experiencing what he described as a loss of joy and a deeper spiritual calling, he chose to leave the beauty industry and enter seminary in 2019. Borba has since donated much of his wealth to charity and now lives a minimalist lifestyle at St. Patrick’s Seminary, where he said he has found greater happiness through faith and service.
THE WHY? Borba’s transition reflects a significant personal shift away from business success and material wealth toward a life focused on spirituality and religious service.
