THE WHAT? Unilever-owned Dove has entered the fine fragrance category with the launch of its first perfume, extending its established personal care portfolio into a new product segment through a limited-edition, direct-to-consumer release.
THE DETAILS Developed in collaboration with fragrance specialist Ann Gottlieb, Dove Original Fragrance recreates the signature scent of the brand’s Original Beauty Bar, introduced in 1957. The perfume is packaged in a glass bottle inspired by the cleansing bar and priced at US$19.57, reflecting its launch year. The product will be released on 27 October 2026 through a dedicated online platform, following a consumer waitlist launched on 22 October. The one-time release responds to consumer demand for a wearable version of Dove’s established fragrance.
THE WHY? The launch illustrates how mass-market personal care brands are exploring premium fragrance opportunities through existing brand equity and established scent recognition. Dove’s limited-edition, digital-first approach also provides an opportunity to assess demand for category expansion without committing to a permanent retail rollout, reflecting the growing role of direct-to-consumer strategies in cosmetics product development and distribution.
