THE WHAT? Chanel is continuing its corporate governance restructuring, with longtime fashion executive Bruno Pavlovsky stepping down from the company’s Board of Directors while retaining his operational leadership role.
THE DETAILS Pavlovsky, who joined Chanel in 1990, resigned from the board on 8 October 2026 but will remain President of Chanel’s Fashion Activities. The move forms part of a wider governance overhaul aimed at increasing board independence through the appointment of non-executive directors. It follows the planned retirement of Chief Financial Officer Philippe Blondiaux at the end of 2026, with former Pernod Ricard executive Hélène de Tissot appointed as his successor. The changes come as Chanel continues its leadership transition under Artistic Director Matthieu Blazy, whose collections have supported renewed sales growth despite challenging conditions across the luxury sector.
THE WHY? The restructuring reflects Chanel’s efforts to strengthen corporate governance, introduce independent oversight and support long-term business continuity. For the privately owned luxury group, which operates across fashion, fragrance and cosmetics, the changes reinforce its approach to managing leadership succession while maintaining operational stability.
