THE WHAT? Chinese beauty group Yatsen reported a 5.1 percent increase in second-quarter 2026 revenue to RMB1.14 billion (US$168.3 million), driven by strong growth across its skincare portfolio.
THE DETAILS Skincare revenue increased 40.4 percent to RMB816.1 million, accounting for 71.5 percent of group revenue, led by clinical and premium brands including Galénic, DR.WU and Eve Lom. By contrast, colour cosmetics revenue fell 35.8 percent, prompting Yatsen to streamline its colour cosmetics portfolio and redirect resources towards higher-growth skincare brands. Gross margin declined to 73.9 percent from 78.3 percent, while net loss widened to RMB90.8 million from RMB19.5 million a year earlier.
THE WHY? The results underline Yatsen’s strategic shift towards premium and clinical skincare as the primary engine of growth, with the group rationalising its weaker colour cosmetics business while maintaining investment in R&D and its core skincare brands.
